Steps to follow when Registering Newborn Baby in the UAE:

Step 1: Complete the paperwork.

First, ensure you have your baby’s birth certificate and passport sorted. If you’re not in your home country, head to your embassy there to apply for the passport.

To get a birth certificate for your newborn in the UAE, you need to submit the following documents:

1. Attested Arabic translated marriage certificate (if original is in another language)
2. Copy and original of father’s and mother’s passport and residence visa
3. Birth details from the hospital
4. Discharge summary from the hospital

For expats, all birth certificates need to be attested by Mohap and Mofa. You can also get it stamped by Doh or DHA. The fee is Dh60, and you can apply online or in person at a public health center.

Step 2: Arrange the visa.

Next, apply for a visa at the UAE embassy in the country where your baby was born. Find the UAE embassy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website.

For a newborn’s residence visa in the UAE, you have 120 days from birth to complete the process. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Approach your country’s embassy in the UAE to apply for the child’s passport.
2. If you’re the mother, approval from the ICP is needed to sponsor your child.
3. Apply for the residence visa on the GDRFA website or at an Amer centre in person. You’ll need the child’s passport, birth certificate, and your identification.
4. The fees for the urgent service are Dh100, plus Dh10 for the knowledge and innovation fee.

Requirements for sponsoring your family:

Ensure you have a valid residence visa, either through work or self-sponsorship like a Green Visa or Golden Visa. Then, meet the minimum salary criteria and gather the necessary documents.
