What Can You Provide for Your Proof of Residency When Emirates ID Replaces Visa Sticker in UAE?
Emirates ID cards have now officially replaced residency visa stickers on the passports and residency stickers will no longer be issued for expatriates instead all details will be stored on their Emirates ID cards which will be used as a proof of their valid UAE residence.
Here are the options the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), provides for UAE residents:
1. Emirates ID:
Emirates ID would be used as primary proof of an expatriate’s residency. ICP has already started replacing the residency visa sticker from April 11. The advanced version not only includes all the information that was previously contained on your residency visa sticker, it also holds additional information like your personal and professional data, issuing authority and population group and ‘non-visible data’, which is secured through an enhanced protection system and can be read through the ICP’s ‘e-link’ system.
2. Digital Visa Sticker:
Can you access your pink coloured residency visa sticker?
You can still access your digital pink coloured visa sticker through the official UAE ICP app.
Please follow the below steps to access your visa sticker:
Step 1: Download the UAEICP app which is available on Apple and Android devices.
Step 2: Log in using your UAE Pass account or register a new account with ICP
Step 3: Once you have registered your account, the app will provide the details of your residency.
Step 4: At the bottom of the screen, you will see an icon which looks like a document wallet. Tap on the icon and you will be able to access the digital copy of the Emirates ID as well as the residency sticker.
Step 5: Download the visa sticker and share it through Whatsapp, Email or other platforms.
Note: If you are sponsoring your family member or a domestic worker, the dependents on your sponsorship will also have their accounts linked to your account, and you will be able to access their details.
3. Residency Document:
You can also get your residency details printed through ICP’s website. This service provides a residency report with the authority’s stamp.
You may follow the below steps to get your residency report:
Step 1:Log in to your account on https://icp.gov.ae/en/
Step 2: Click on ‘Department’ and select the immigration department that has issued your visa (Dubai GDRFA, Sharjah, etc.)
Step 3: Select Other Services from the ‘Module’ section
Step 4: Select ‘reports’ and from the sub service section select Residency details and Print option.
Step 5: Confirm the individual details listed on the ICP system
Step 6: Make the payment and receive the residency report from ICP
Note: If you have dependents under your sponsorship, they will also be listed as options you can choose.
Approximate Cost would be:
- Request fees – AED 50
- E-services fees – AED 29.40
- ICA fees – AED 22
