What are the medical tests for UAE residence visa?

Below are the standard tests done before stamping your UAE residence visa:

  • Blood test
  • Chest X-ray
  • Tuberculosis
  • Leprosy
  • HIV / Aids
  • Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C (for babysitters, nursery and kindergarten employees, housemaids, workers at barber shops, health clubs or restaurants)
  • Syphilis (for domestic helps, babysitters, workers at nurseries, barber shops kindergartens, coffee shops, health clubs, food supply centres, restaurants and other food outlets)
  • Pregnancy tests (Female domestic workers, babysitters and female drivers must test negative for pregnancy. If positive, the employer should submit a statement about his awareness of the pregnancy prior to granting a visa)

The AIDS/HIV, Leprosy and Tuberculosis tests are mandatory for all expatriates seeking new visa, while Hepatitis Syphilis and pregnancy tests are for categories mentioned above.

Those who are found suffering from any of these diseases would be denied visa and deported, as per the law. Therefore, if you think you are suffering from any communicable disease, it is advised to review it first in your home country.

A new Cabinet Resolution was passed in 2016. As per this resolution, all resident expatriates while renewing their residence visas have to undergo TB screening, too.

Those found with scars or active TB or found having drug-resistant TB will be issued a conditional fitness certificate and be issued residence visa for one year. They will then have to undergo treatment in the UAE.
