Many people have this notion that MBA (Master of Business Administration) is the key to a great career and I must say that they are true. An MBA degree will give you an insight into the experience that employers seek. Few years back it became a trend for many to pursue MBA as part of diversifying their careers. You can find MBA qualified in almost all the industries, may it be Human Resources, Finance, Outsourcing, Management, Airlines etc. There are no exceptions to what an MBA can do for your career.

Why MBA?

Besides the points mentioned above, MBA candidates are sought after because of the perspective they have developed during their study years. An MBA graduate is much more able to think logically and strategically than other courses. I have seen top notch engineers turning to MBA courses to build and diversify their careers. An engineer would erstwhile be Head of a particular department but seldom heading a company or a top notch job. By completing MBA, an engineer would also be well versed in Management aspects which he/she may have lacked previously.

MBA in Dubai – But why?

Many of the companies set up here were mostly trading and oil producing companies. They required more engineers than management graduates; not that there were no MBAs. However, the times have changed and the with that the culture of Dubai companies. With complexities in the business, came the requirement of shrewd and tactical thinking management graduates. And this is where MBAs came into pictures.

Where can MBAs get job in Dubai?

As the world gets more complex and connected, companies and organisations require troubleshooters to solve unique problems they face. MBA has many specialisations like Finance, HR, Marketing, International Business, Aviation Management, Logistics Management, Project Management and so on. MBA qualified are much in demand in the Banking sector, Financial services sector, Airlines, Holding companies, Trading companies, Investment companies, Accounting Firms and so on. 

Is MBA overrated?

Some believe that MBA is overrated and MBA may not be necessary to achieve career goals. Yes, but having an MBA is definitely an advantage. Speak to any person who has dome MBA and you would hear that they have had better job prospects after completing their MBA.

How about Executive MBA?

Another growing trend around the world and especially in Dubai is the Executive MBA. If you already have a sizeable work experience and are unable to quit your full time work, Executive MBA is a good choice. Under Executive MBA, the applicant does not attend the classic 2 year MBA but 2 year’s worth of course converted into a year worth of dedicated study. Under certain MBA programs, you take a break for a year and completely dedicate yourself to studies. Whereas some Executive MBAs have an option of evening and weekend classes.
