  1. Step 1: Apply for a New Passport
    • You can’t change your address on your existing passport. You’ll need to get a new passport. Here’s how:
    • Option 1: In-Person Application Go to the BLS International Services UAE centerOpens in a new tab.. They are the official service provider for the Indian Consulate. They will give you a form called EAP II to fill out. This form is for changing your address.
    • Option 2: Online Application Visit the ‘Passport Seva at Indian Embassies and ConsulatesOpens in a new tab.‘ website and fill out the application for “re-issuing an ordinary passport with a new address.” Print the form and then visit a BLS center to complete the process.
  2. Step 2: Visit BLS Center and Provide Address Info
    • Go to the BLS center and give them your form if you filled it online. If you started at the center, provide your local UAE address. Your emirate of residence, street name, area, house number, mobile number and email address. You also need to give an address in India for police verification. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in India, when Indian expatriates renew their passport, they need to go through a process called police verification, which is a necessary step.
  3. Step 3: Show Documents for Proof
    • You’ll need to prove that you live in the UAE. Show these documents:
      • Your valid passport.
      • Rental contract or property deed if you’ve lived in the same place for over a year.
      • Your valid Emirates ID.
      • A utility bill from your electricity and water authority.
        • For Dubai, it’s Dewa.
        • For Abu Dhabi, it’s ADDC.
        • For Sharjah, it’s Sewa.
        • For Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Dhaid region in Sharjah, it’s Etihad Water and Electricity (ETIHAD WE).
      • At this point, you should also give them your current passport. Once they approve your request, they’ll send you both your old and new passports using a courier service.
  4. Step 4: Pay the Fees
    • This covers the cost of the service and the courier fees: Dh415 if you use a standard BLS center. Dh650 if you use premium BLS lounges.

    • For Sharjah residents: Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority (Sewa).
    • For residents of Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Dhaid region in Sharjah: Etihad Water and Electricity (ETIHAD WE).

You’ll also have to provide your current passport. Once your request is approved, you’ll receive your previous and newly updated passport via courier.
