How can you attest sick leave certificate in UAE?
It is the responsibility of an employee, to prove his/her sickness through the valid medical reports and/or medical certificates. If an employee want to get the sick leave application attested, he/she can get it done through the online Ministry of Health and Prevention’s (MoHAP) official website. www.mohap.ae.
As per MoHAP’s website, the rules for attesting sick leaves is different for each Emirate:
In Dubai and Abu Dhbai residents can upload the sick leaves issued by medical establishments online, through the ‘Attestation of Medical Leaves and Reports’ on MoHAP’s website. Whereas, in Sharjah and the other Northern Emirates, the sick leave must be attested electronically by the health facility, which carried out the treatment.
In certain circumstances once the private or governmental health facilities in Dubai issue a certificate, the same is to be validated by a certificate authority (CA) . With the co-operation of the UAE Ministry of Health & Prevention (MOHAP), the process of a Dubai sick leave attestation works smoothly.

The private medical facility issues a certificate using MOHAP sick leaves system so it is already certified thus it doesn’t need further attestation. The smart service provides attestation of sick leaves and medical report certificates, of both private and governmental health facilities.
There are a certain set of conditions you need to follow and documents you need to submit before applying for a medical certificate attestation process in Dubai.
What are the documents required to get an attested medical certificate in Dubai?
Depending on the duration (five days or less, above five days or a month, exceeding one month) of your sick leave, you will need to provide the following documents:
- Original sick leave certificate, Emirates ID copy (for sick leave five days or less)
- A copy of Emirates ID card, original sick leave certificate, the payment of sick leave attestation fees (for sick leave five days or a month)
- A receipt of the paid attestation fee issues by MoHAP in the first stage, original sick leave certificate, Emirates ID copy, an approval of a medical committee (for the sick leave exceeding one month)
Note: According to MoHAP’s website, a sick leave exceeding five days needs to be reviewed and approved by a medical committee.
How to apply for the sick leave attestation?
To access this service online, you must create an account on the MoHAP site.
Step 1: Register on MOHAP’s e-system
Step 2: Create an account on the MoHAP site
Step 3: Visit the link https://mohap.gov.ae/en/services/attestation-of-medical-leaves-and-reports
Step 4: Start Service tab and Login into the system
Step 5: Upload Emirates ID, Medical Report, Sick leave issued by the health centre.
Step 6: Submit the application
Step 7 : Pay the required amount.
The service fee for the attestation of sick leave of five days to a month is AED 50/-, and applicants will have to pay for the fee’s amount via the smart payment gateway, on the MoHAP site.
It takes two working days for online application and five working days if the certificate requested is for more than one month.
Sick leaves must be approved by the Dubai’s Health Authority and then submitted online through the MOHAP website.
