Step 2: Pay the fees: Pay the service and card fees, which vary based on your visa type. The cost for a one-year visa is approximately Dh170, a two-year visa is approximately Dh270, and a 10-year Golden Visa is approximately Dh1,070.
Step 3: Biometric scan: If it’s your first time applying for an Emirates ID, visit an ICP customer happiness center to undergo a fingerprint scan for the Emirates ID database. This step is not required for subsequent renewals.
Step 4: Collect your Emirates ID: Once your Emirates ID is issued, you will receive an SMS from ICP indicating the designated post office where you can collect your Emirates ID. Follow the instructions provided in the SMS.

Check or Track your Emirates ID status
You can check your Emirates ID status in two methods:

- Step 2: Enter your PRAN (application number) or IDN number in the slot and click on Check
The PRAN number is available on your Emirates ID application form, whereas the IDN number is an actual Emirates ID card number.

How long does it take to get your Emirates ID after the medical fitness test?
After you have successfully completed your medical fitness test
Once your test results are sent to the local immigration department and all the necessary paperwork is approved, your residency visa will be issued. The printing process for the new Emirates ID begins after that.
According to experts, if you opt for the VIP or fast track package for the medical test, you may receive the test results within a few hours or a day. However, the overall process of obtaining the Emirates ID and residency visa typically takes up to one week.
It’s important to note that you will not receive your Emirates ID until your residency visa has been issued. Additionally, if you are a new resident in the UAE, you will need to register your biometric data, which can extend the processing time by a few more days, depending on your biometric data appointment date.
In summary, the entire process of obtaining your Emirates ID, from passing the medical fitness test to receiving the actual ID, can take anywhere from a few days up to a maximum of two weeks.
Collection of Your Emirates ID
The Emirates ID will be sent to a nearby post office for collection. Upon receiving a text message from ICP containing information about the delivery date and the specific Emirates Post post office
Alternatively, you can contact ICP at 600 522222 and provide them with your application number to obtain the delivery details, including the date and location of your Emirates ID.
Emirates ID Renewal
You will receive a notification via SMS requesting you to renew your ID card by Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (FAIC).
You have 30 days to renew an expired ID from the date of expiry. If you have not renewed your emirates ID you will have to pay AED AED 20 as late fines per day with a maximum of AED 1000.
UAE residence visa holders can only apply for renewal when their residence visa is renewed or reissued. However, UAE nationals can apply for renewal of Emirates ID between six and one month before the expiry date.
To register your details please visit to the Amer centre or the typing centre and follow the same as new emirates ID application . You might need to visit one of FAIC’s service centres or preventive medical centres to provide your biometric details only if required during the renewal process.
Renewal of your Emirates ID online
The Emirates ID renewal application can be completed online through the ICP website

- Register as a user and log in using UAE PASS
or your existing smart services account. - Choose the “Residence Permit and Emirates ID Renewal” service.
- Review and update your information, and pay the applicable fees.
- Submit your application for Emirates ID renewal.
- Receive your renewed Emirates ID through a certified delivery company. The Emirates ID is recognized as an alternative to the residence visa stamped on passports.
It is crucial to enter accurate information during the application process to ensure smooth processing and avoid delays. Double-check your ID number, expiry date, and all data entered in the digital application form. Validate your contact details, such as phone number, email address, and preferred delivery method. The accuracy and validity of provided data will be reviewed by the ICP.
In some companies, family visas are taken care by the HR department. In this case you may also submit your application form, passport copy, Emirates ID copy, insurance card copy, medical report, and two passport photos to your HR team or PRO.
The EIDA procedure requires detailed sponsor information as well, so this is best done through the company than by the employee.
In case, you are asked to do this on your own, call 600530003 before heading out. Collect all required sponsor documents or data beforehand and submit those along with your documents at an EIDA office close to you.
Collection
Once approved and submitted, your Emirates ID will become available for collection at a post office of your choice or your company’s post box (if that’s what you mentioned in the application). You will be notified by SMS when the card is ready for collection.

If your emirates id is lost or stolen or damaged please follow the below steps for applying for replacement card from ICA :
- Step 1: Report the Loss, damage of Emirates ID: Report the incident nearest ICA Customer Happiness Centre for the deactivation of the stolen, lost card.
- Step 2: Confirmation from ICA: Get the ID number confirmation from ICA or request for the lost ID if you do not have a copy of the same. Take the old card in case if you are card is damaged.
- Step 3: Carry Alternative ID: Always remember to carry your identification to prove your identity.
- Step 4: Apply for Replacement Card : Fill the application for the replacement of the card at the ICA Customer Happiness Centres or you may fill it through the eForm on the ICA website or the ICA UAE app available on iTunes and Google Play and request a replacement of Emirates ID card.
What are the documents required for Emirates ID Replacement?
Depending on the status of the applicant, the required documents are different. To file a report for a stolen or lost ID, you must present the following documents to prove your identity:
For expatriate residents
- ID card data or a copy of the ID card
- The original valid passport;
- The original residence permit issued
- A personal photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm) with a white background for those under 15 years of age and the elderly, and people with disability.
Documents for children under the age of 15
- The original birth certificate
- A parent’s passport or Emirates ID card
For diplomats
- The original diplomatic/consular card/membership card of international organisations for the category of heads and members of diplomatic and consular missions, and international organisations located inside the country to be exempted from the fees for issuing the identity card.
- A valid medical report issued by the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP) or health authorities in the UAE to exempt people with disability or the elderly from the fees for issuing an ID card.
- The original agency certificate for the person acting on behalf of the customer in the event that the person concerned is not present, and the application was submitted by a third party (it is required to bring the original passport of the owner of the lost identity card).
UAE National
- ID card data or a copy of the ID card
- A personal photo (4.5 x 3.5 cm) with a white background (for those under 15 years old, senior citizens and people with disability who are unable to reach service centers and have medical reports)
- Original birth certificate for those younger than 15 years old
- One of the parents’ passports or Emirates ID card (for those younger than 15 years old);
- A social security certificate certified by the Ministry of Community Development (for social security beneficiaries) to be exempted from ID card issuance fees
- A valid medical report issued by the MOHAP or health authorities in the Emirates, in order to exempt people with disability or senior citizens from issuance and delay fees for the ID card

GCC National
- ID card data or a copy of the ID card

Replacement Emirates ID online
In order to apply for the replacement card online, follow these steps:
- Step 1: Visit the ICP website – www.icp.ae – and select the service for issuing a replacement for lost, damaged ID card. Alternatively, you can go the service directly by following this link: https://icp.gov.ae/en/service/issue-a-replacement-for-lost-damaged-id-card/
- Step 2: Click on the ‘Start Service’ button.
- Step 3: Log in using your UAE Pass account
or create a new account with ICP. - Step 4: Next, choose whether you are a UAE National, GCC National or UAE Resident.
- Step 5: Fill in the application form with your personal details such as your address, mobile number, date of birth, etc.
- Step 6: Upload the required documents.
- Step 7: Pay the service fee through a debit or credit card.
- Step 8: After you have completed the application and paid the service fee, you will then receive a text message or email tracking the development of your new Emirates ID.
- Step 9: You will have to collect your Emirates ID from an Emirates Post Office branch or you can have it delivered through a registered courier service with ICP.
The application process takes five working days.
Once approved and submitted, your Emirates ID will be available for collection at a post office of your choice or your company’s post box (if that’s what you mentioned in the application).
You will be notified by SMS when the card is ready for collection. The ID card will be issued within 48 hours from the time of submitting the replacement application. If you applied for the express service, you will receive the ID card within 24 hours from the time you submit the replacement application.
Cost to replace lost Emirates ID
Pay the fees AED 300 for replacement. If you are applying through typing centre you may have to pay an additional AED 70 and if you are applying online you may have to pay an additional amount of AED 40.
Cancellation of Your Emirates ID
Your emirates ID is linked to your UAE residence visa. Once your residence visa is cancelled then automatically your Emirates ID gets canceled in the system.
Your Emirates ID may show a longer validity but if you try to use, you will not be able to.

Is it Required to Renew the Emirates ID along with UAE Residence Visa?
Your UAE residence visa
You will have 30 days from the date of expiry. If you failed to do your emirates id renewal after 30 days from the date of expiry late fines of Dh20 per day will apply, with a maximum of Dh1,000. With regards to your UAE residence visa, a grace period of 30 days to stay in the UAE after the expiry of their visas. The residence visa has to be renewed before the end of that period to avoid incurring fines. If you fail to renew your residence visa after it expires, you would need to pay the fines for the late renewal of your visa as well as your Emirates ID. The late fee for visa renewal is Dh25 per day.
Hence, application for the emirates ID renewal is required in the first place before applying for your residence visa renewal.
7 Emirates ID, visa fines that you should be aware of:
The official website of the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has released a list of administrative fines related to Emirates ID, residency services, and foreigners’ affairs. Here are some of the fines mentioned in the published list:
- Delay in registering and issuing an ID card will incur a fine of Dh20 per day, up to a maximum of Dh1,000.
- Renewing an identity card after 30 days from its expiry date will result in a fine of Dh20 per day, with a maximum of Dh1,000.
- Providing incorrect data as a service recipient will lead to a fine of Dh3,000.
- Typing application inaccurately by system users will incur a fine of Dh100.
- Obstructing employees’ work or failing to cooperate with them will result in a fine of Dh5,000.
- Issuing visas or entry permits for an establishment that is not engaged in any activity will lead to a fine of Dh20,000.
- Misusing the system will incur a fine of Dh5,000.
These fines serve as a deterrent for non-compliance with regulations and aim to ensure the smooth operation of identity, residency, and foreigners’ affairs services. It is important to adhere to the rules and regulations to avoid any penalties.
However, as per ICA, the exemption can be applied by the UAE citizens, GCC citizens and Expatriate residents based on the below criteria :
- a person who left the country and lived outside the UAE for more than three months, or a resident whose residency expired while abroad or whose ID card validity expired after his departure from the UAE. This has to be established with the help of the travel document.
- a person whose ID card validity expired while abroad as a result of an executive or judicial decree or whose passport is detained in a case or due to its renewal. He has to prove it with an official letter from the relevant authorities that has decreed his departure or detained his passport in a case or for purposes of renewal
- a person bed-ridden or suffering from a contagious disease or partial or full disability. This has to be proven with a medical certificate issued by relevant authorities in the country
- staff of diplomatic or consular missions in the country and those under their care.
- elderly people above the age of 70 who are unable to visit the customer services centres. They have to prove their age with their family book, passport or any other authentic document.
- people subject to social security and those under their sponsorship. They have to prove their status with an official certificate issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs or other relevant authorities.
- a person for whom the ID card was not issued during the period before he obtained UAE citizenship or family book.
- delays in the registration or issuance of ID card on account of errors of documentation or due to the Emirates ID’s systems or one of its staff members or typing offices assigned by it

- Under the first category, ‘Department’, you would need to fill in the three digit code that your file number starts with.
- Under ‘Year’, fill in the following four digits of your file number. This is the year that your visa was first issued.
- Under ‘category’, fill in the first digit of the last part of your file number.
- Under ‘Sequence’ fill in the remaining digits.
- Passport No. – Enter your passport number here.
- Name (English) – Fill in your name exactly like it is printed on your Emirates ID.
- Name (Arabic) – The system will automatically generate the Arabic version of your name.
- Date of Birth – select the exact date from the calendar menu.
- Last Entry Date – this should be the last entry stamp on your passport, for when you entered the borders of the UAE.
- Email – provide your email address here.
- Once you complete the form, another form will pop up right below it, where you need to enter your mobile number and a valid address
- Check the box for your current mobile number, as registered with ICA.
- Enter the new mobile number. You will then receive a one-time password on the new number, which you need to enter into the form.
- Select the captcha verification and proceed.
- Step 2: Review application: You can review the application and all your details updated. Please ensure the details updated are accurate. In case, if you wish to make any changes you can return to step 1 to do so. Once you confirm the details please proceed to the final step.
- Step 3: Make the payment: You will directed to the page you can complete your payment. Currently, the complete charge for updating your details is AED 52.10.
After completing this procedure, you will receive an email that will have an invoice for the payment. If the application is rejected, you will receive a refund.

Can I use my Emirates ID as a medical insurance card?
Yes, you can now use your Emirates ID as a medical insurance card. Most of the Hospitals, clinics and pharmacies now use the Emirates ID to run a check at their end to identify which insurer and what coverage is the insured eligible for.
As you all aware that it is now mandatory to have the health insurance for all citizens and residents holding visa issued by Dubai and Abu Dhabi. Before you apply for any medical or health insurance policy you must provide your Emirates ID application to the insurance provider to issue a health coverage certificate which can be used to get the rest of the visa processes done. Emirates ID is used as a form of identification when buying an insurance plan.
The Emirates ID card now provides an opportunity for citizens of the UAE to make their healthcare more affordable. Once your visa is stamped and Emirates ID is printed, you need to send the policy number and Emirates ID number to your health insurance provider to link your Emirates ID and medical or health insurance plan.
By using Emirates ID as your health insurance you can check the details of your health insurance , benefits, pending medicine or treatment approval requests and network coverage online by visiting website or the mobile application of the respective health insurance provider. Will Emirates ID Replaces the Residency Visa Stamp on the Passport?
A residence visa
As per the circular issued by the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security noted that residents’ Emirates ID would count as their residency. The ID contains all relevant residency-related information. This move comes in implementation of the Cabinet decision to support the development of services provided and apply best practices.
Effective April 11, Authorities will no longer issue residency visa stamps to foreign nationals who have residency in the United Arab Emirates. Foreign residents will be able to use their Emirates Id card to prove their residency status instead of the residency visa stamp.
This will reduces the number of steps required to issue or renew one’s residency documents. With the single application you can now issue or renew your residence visa and Emriates ID.
The airlines can now verify the residency status through the passport number and Emirates ID.
Customers can obtain a soft copy of the ID upon submitting the issuance or renewal request. The authority said that the new generation of the Emirates ID card issued to residents includes all details mentioned previously on the residency sticker, including personal and professional data, the issuer and other readable and non-readable data on the face of the card.
How to Apply for the Exemption from Emirates ID fines?
As per the ICP or Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, all UAE and GCC citizens and expatriate residents, who failed to get their Emirates ID cards or the ID cards of those under their sponsorship issued or renewed in the stipulated timeframe, can apply for exemption from late fines . However, there are certain criteria you must meet.
You can apply for the exemption from late fines if you fulfill one of the criteria:
- If you are lived outside the UAE for more than three months
- If you are a resident whose residency expired while abroad
- If you are a resident whose ID card validity expired after you departed from the UAE.
In the above cases you must provide a valid travel document to verify your stay.
- If your ID card validity expired while abroad as a result of an executive or judicial decree or passport is detained in a case or due to its renewal . You must provide the official letter from the respective authorities.
- If the person is bed-ridden or suffering from a contagious disease or partial or full disability. In this case you must provide a medical certificate issued by medical authorities.
- The staff of diplomatic or consular missions in the country and those under their care.
- Elderly people above the age of 70 who are unable to visit the customer services centres –In this case you must furnish passport or birth certificate proving their age.
- Delays in the registration or issuance of an ID card on account of errors of documentation or due to the Emirates ID’s systems or one of its staff members or typing offices assigned by it.
- People subject to social security and those under their sponsorship. They have to prove their status with an official certificate issued by the Ministry of Social Affairs or other relevant authorities.
- A person for whom the ID card was not issued during the period before he obtained UAE citizenship or family book.
In order to apply for an extension you must need:
- ID card number
- Contact information (an active mobile number and email address)
- A valid original passport
- A valid original entry permitValid original residence visa
- Evidence supporting the customer request – this means that you have failed to get your Emirates ID renewed due to a valid reason.

What Document Can You Provide for Your Proof of Residency in UAE?
Emirates ID cards have now officially replaced residency visa stickers on the passports and residency stickers will no longer be issued for expatriates instead all details will be stored on their Emirates ID cards which will be used as a proof of their valid UAE residence.
Here are the options the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), provides for UAE residents:
1. Emirates ID:
Emirates ID would be used as primary proof of an expatriate’s residency. ICP has already started replacing the residency visa sticker from April 11. The advanced version not only includes all the information that was previously contained on your residency visa sticker, it also holds additional information like your personal and professional data, issuing authority and population group and ‘non-visible data’, which is secured through an enhanced protection system and can be read through the ICP’s ‘e-link’ system.
2. Digital Visa Sticker:
Can you access your pink coloured residency visa sticker?
You can still access your digital pink coloured visa sticker through the official UAE ICP app.
Please follow the below steps to access your visa sticker:
- Step 1: Download the UAEICP app which is available on Apple
and Android devices. - Step 2: Log in using your UAE Pass account
or register a new account with ICP - Step 3: Once you have registered your account, the app will provide the details of your residency.
- Step 4: At the bottom of the screen, you will see an icon which looks like a document wallet. Tap on the icon and you will be able to access the digital copy of the Emirates ID as well as the residency sticker.
- Step 5: Download the visa sticker and share it through Whatsapp, Email or other platforms.
Note: If you are sponsoring your family member or a domestic worker, the dependents on your sponsorship will also have their accounts linked to your account, and you will be able to access their details.
3. Residency Document:
You can also get your residency details printed through ICP’s website. This service provides a residency report with the authority’s stamp.
You may follow the below steps to get your residency report:
- Step 1:Log in to your account on https://icp.gov.ae/en/
- Step 2: Click on ‘Department’ and select the immigration department that has issued your visa (Dubai GDRFA, Sharjah, etc.)
- Step 3: Select Other Services from the ‘Module’ section
- Step 4: Select ‘reports’ and from the sub service section select Residency details and Print option.
- Step 5: Confirm the individual details listed on the ICP system
- Step 6: Make the payment and receive the residency report from ICP
- Note: If you have dependents under your sponsorship, they will also be listed as options you can choose.

How long does it takes to issue your Emirates ID?
If you have completed your Emirates ID renewal process, it will take almost a week for your Emirates ID to be issued.
Please make sure to check the address you have provided for the Emirates ID to be delivered by checking the copy of the application that is with you. The contact number and address should be published correctly, because failing to do so can lead to delays in the delivery of your card.
You can also track the application through the Application Number PRAN that is printed on your application form. You can also track the application by calling ICP on 600 522222.
It is also important to ensure that you do not delay collecting your Emirates ID from the nearest Emirates Post office.
How to get your Emirates ID within one hour?
You can speed up the Emirates ID application process and receive your card within one hour if you are applying for your first or current ID for the first time or if you are renewing it.
Here is the procedure followed by ICP when an Emirates ID is issued.
Step 1: Start the application
You can choose from any of the four available channels to apply for the Emirates and fill out the application.

Step 2: Verification and security check

How to renew your Emirates ID and visa together in the UAE?
The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) – which manages visa-related issues in the Emirates of Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah – raised awareness about the process that applicants can follow to complete the renewal of both their visa and Emirates ID.

How to change or update personal details on your Emirates ID?
Your residence visa and emirates id are linked. Before you make any changes to the emirates id, you need to modify data on your residence visa .
1. Update your residence visa details
If you have a Dubai visa, you would first need to raise the request with the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai. You can complete this process in three ways.
- If you wish to complete the process online, you would need to visit gdrfa.gov.ae and select the ‘Data Amendment for Residency Visa’ service. This allows you to update your job title, full name or passport photo.
- You can also complete this step by visiting an Amer centre with your passport, Emirates ID and supporting documents related to your change request.
- You may also choose to visit a typing centre near you, which would make the process easier.

2. Update your Emirates ID
Once the details have been updated on your residence visa, with the new visa issued by GDRFA, take the amended residence visa and your old Emirates ID to one of the following customer happiness centres of Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP):

– Al Rashidiya
Apply for updating your Emirates ID at the centre. After reviewing the information on the residence visa, ICP will process your request and issue a new Emirates ID with the updated information.

You can get a QR Code for your Emirates ID through two platforms:

- Unified number
- Emirates ID number
- Emirates ID expiry date
- Full name in English and Arabic
- Nationality
- Date of birth and gender
- Download the PDF with the QR code or enter your email address, and have the PDF with QR code sent to you. It is important to note that that the validity of the QR code is only one day. However, you can generate the request for the Emirates ID QR code again.
2. Through the app:
- Download the ‘UAEICP’
app from the Google Play or Apple App store and follow the steps below: - You choose to enter your information, by either using your unified number, or Emirates ID number.

- Once that’s done tap the ‘submit’ button.
- You will then receive a QR code, which stores all the details of your Emirates ID. You can also scroll below and view your Emirates ID number and expiry.

There are three way to access your digital version of your Emirates Id for Free and they are:
- Through the UAE Pass app
- Through the ‘UAEICP’ app
- Access your Emirates ID details through a QR Code

- Register on the app by entering your Emirates ID number and verify your identity via facial recognition
- Open the app and tap on ‘Add Documents’ on the home page

- Once you finish the process, a QR code containing the entire information of your Emirates ID will be given to you. Additionally, you can go down and take a look at your Emirates ID number, unified number, and the expiration date.

How to update Emirates ID for Etisalat, Du, and Virgin Mobile
In the UAE, Etisalat, Du, and Virgin Mobile enable their customers to easily update their registration documents within a matter of minutes. It is mandatory to keep your Emirates ID updated with your telecom service provider, as per the regulatory policy by the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) for mobile number registration. Failing to comply with this requirement could lead to the suspension or disconnection of all linked mobile numbers or accounts.
How to update your Emirates ID for Etisalat
- Create your UAE Pass Account :Download UAE Pass app on your phone. Create UAE Pass account and make sure you have a valid Emirates ID on the app.
- Register the new Emirates ID on Etisalat’s app:Download the My Etisalat app from Apple or Android devices
- Login with your UAE Pass account and confirm the login on the UAE Pass app.
- Click on the “Update Now link” on the Etisalat app homepage (reminder pop up to update your Emirates ID)
- Tap on continue with UAE PASS
- Select the account you want to update and tap on ‘agree and continue’.
- Go to UAE PASS app and accept the request for Etisalat to access your emirates ID and tap on “Allow Document Sharing”
- Go back to the Etisalat app, review your details, and add your mobile number, and tap on ‘Submit’.
- You will get a confirmation from Etisalat that your updated Emirates ID has been submitted.Agree to the terms and conditions.
- You will receive a confirmation SMS from Etisalat stating that the registration renewal request has been successfully submitted and is now being verified by Etisalat. You will also receive a request ID to track the status.
- You will receive SMS from Etisalat stating the registration is fully complete and your mobile number has now been linked to your renewed Emirates ID.
If you do not have a UAE Pass, you will have to visit an Etisalat customer care centre and provide the Emirates ID card.
How to update Emirates ID for Du
There are three ways to update your Emirates ID for your Du mobile number:
1. Online on the Du website – myaccount.du.ae
2. Du app – which is available for Apple and Android devices.
3. Du stores
- Update Emirates ID through the Website – myaccount.du.ae
- Visit this link: myaccount.du.ae and click on ‘Update ID’ on the menu bar.
- Enter your mobile number. You will receive and OTP which you need to enter.
- Upload a copy of your Emirates ID.
- Select the account linked with your mobile number and Emirates ID
- You will get an SMS that the registration was successful and it will take a maximum of 48 hours for Du to validate your Emirates ID.
- Once the process is completed you will be notified via SMS once the process is complete.
- Update Emirates ID through Mobile – Du app
- Before updating your Emirates ID, you must have a UAE Pass account and your renewed Emirates ID must be added as a document in UAE Pass. Here are the steps:
- Log in to the Du app with your UAE Pass and tap on the menu icon (which has three lines) at the bottom of your mobile screen
- Tap ‘Update ID’ and tap the option ‘Login with UAE Pass’
- Select the mobile numbers you would like to renew and tap on ‘Continue with UAE Pass’.
- You will then be directed to the UAE Pass app on your phone. Tap on ‘Allow Document Sharing’.
- Once you enable the document-sharing option, Du will be able to access your Emirates ID details.
- Tap on ‘Proceed’.
- You will receive a notification from the Du app that your request for the Emirates ID update is being processed.
- Once the Emirates ID is validated by Du, You will be notified that the mobile registration is completed
- Update Emirates ID through Mobile-Du stores
- You can also visit a Du customer service centre, request the mobile registration renewal service, and provide your Emirates ID card to complete the process.
How to update Emirates ID for Virgin Mobile
For Virgin Mobile users, you can update the Emirates ID through the ‘Virgin Mobile UAE’ app, or at a Virgin Mobile kiosk or at a Virgin Megastore outlet.
- Download the Virgin Mobile UAE app, which is available for Apple, Android,. Log in to your profile.
- Tap on the ‘More’ option (which can be identified by three dots) at the bottom of your mobile screen. Tap on your name.
- Tap on ‘Update your ID’. on your account
- Select the numbers you want to update and tap on ‘Continue’.
- Then verify your Emirates ID details – enter the last four digits of your Emirates ID and date of birth. Tap on ‘Continue’.

You will then get a notification on the app and an SMS from Virgin Mobile that your request for updating your ID has been confirmed and is now under review. It takes up to 24 hours for verification, and once it is complete, the user will be notified by SMS.

If your Emirates ID expires, how much time do you have until your phone line gets disconnected?
If your Emirates ID is about to expire, you might be concerned about how long you have before your phone line gets disconnected. The good news is that UAE’s telecommunications service providers offer a grace period to allow residents to update their records without facing service disconnection.
Here is everything you require to know.
Etisalat by e& Grace period – two months
Please note that the customer gets a grace period of two months after exceeding the expiry date of his or her Emirates ID. The user will receive an SMS reminder to update the registration details in the Etisalat by e& system throughout these two months.
If you fail to renew your Emirates ID within the grace period, your phone line will be disconnected, and you will need to visit an etisalat by e& store or use the app to renew your registration.
du Grace period – 90 days
Customers can upgrade their Emirates ID at any time between 30 days before the ID expires to 90 days after it expires.
So you have a total of 120 days to finish this procedure. You can update your Emirates ID through the du app using UAE Pass, self-service kiosks in du stores, or at point of sale.
After 60 days of ID expiry, outgoing services will be disconnected. After 90 days, both outgoing and incoming services will be disconnected.
If you update your Emirates ID after 60 days, and only your phone’s outgoing services are disconnected, you can renew it through the du app, self-service kiosks, or at a du store.
If you have passed the 90-day grace period and your line is fully disconnected, you will need to visit a du shop to submit your new Emirates ID and potentially retain your previous number as a new SIM.
Both etisalat by e& and du follow the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) regulations, and customers will be informed about each step and action taken via SMS and email.
