New UAE Pass security feature: What is the Web Authenticator Code?
Dubai has added a new security step called the ‘web authenticator code’ for the UAE Pass, starting in February. This helps keep your online logins safe when you use a computer.
Here’s how it works:
- When you want to log into a website, like your bank or phone company, you choose to log in with your UAE Pass.
- You’ll be asked to put in your Emirates ID, email, or phone number.
- Then, the website will tell you to open your UAE Pass app and pick a number it shows you. For example, if the website says the number is 54, you’ll see this number on your phone app among two other numbers.
- Click on the correct number (54 in our example) and confirm.
- The app will also check your face to make sure it’s really you.
After these steps, you’ll get into the website.
If you’re using the UAE Pass to log into an app on your phone, nothing changes. It will automatically use your face to log you in.
The Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA) says this new feature is made to be super secure and easy for users to control.
