Transfer of family sponsorship in UAE
There are 2 scenarios leading to this situation:
- When a woman is on her father’s sponsorship and wants to move to her spouse sponsorship
- When husband loses his job and children are on husband visa and wants to transfer children and his visa under his spouse sponsorship provided his spouse is eligible to sponsor the family.
What are the documents required to transfer the family sponsorship visa?
The process can be initiated and complete through the GDRFA website – smart.gdrfa.gov.ae – or by visiting an Amer centre.
Documents Required:
- A copy of the sponsor’s tenancy contract or real estate ownership deed.
- Recent personal photo with a white background of the person being sponsored.
- Emirates ID application form.
- Sponsorship transfer request.
- Medical fitness certificate.
- Passport copy of the person being sponsored.
- A copy of the employment contract of the new sponsor.
When Applying Online:
If you are completing the process online, follow these steps:
- Submit the required documents
- Check if the documents have been correctly uploaded.
- Pay the fees
- Send the request
- Receive a text message with the request status.
Process of transferring family sponsorship:
- Fill in the application form for approval through online or by visiting an Amer centre .
- Once you have the approval you may apply for a medical fitness test. Regular application – Dh320 (where the medical test results come within five working days)Urgent – Dh410 (where the medical test results come within 48 hours)VIP – Dh750 (where the medical test results come within four hours)
- Get the Emirates ID done. Charges Dh270 for two year, Dh370 for three year
- Apply for a medical /health insurance
- Apply for residence visa stamping, Regular – Dh460 (You will get the passport with the stamped visa in three to four working days), Urgent – Dh560 (Same day stamping, but the sponsor will need to go to the Immigration service)
