How can You check Your UAE visa fine online?
Whether you are on visit visa or a resident in UAE it is important to ensure that you do not violate any of the requirements set out for your visa.
Immigration authorities have in place grace periods for UAE visa holders, which give them some time to get their visa status in order, before fines are levied. If you are a residence visa holder, you have a 30 days’ grace period after the visa’s expiry date to either amend your status and get another residence visa or leave the country and for tourists and visit visa holders have a grace period of 10 days after their visa’s expiry date.
In order to check your visa status whether you may have incurred any overstay fine in the UAE you can easily check them online by following below steps:
You can use the websites of either of these two immigration authorities, to check for visa fines regardless of which Emirate issued the visa.
- GDRFA website – www.gdrfa.gov.ae (if the visa is issued by General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai)
- ICP website – www.icp.gov.ae (if the visas are issued for all other emirates – Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah).
Step 1: Visit the link beta.smartservices.icp.gov.ae
Click on Fines-FINES – PAY FINES – VIOLATIONS OF ENTRY PERMISSIONS OR RESIDENCES – PAY NEW FINE and click on start service.
Step 2: Fill in the required details :
- If your are a UAE Residents:
- Click on ‘file number’.
- Type in your file number. You can find the file number on the UAE residence visa page of your passport.
- Type in your date of birth.
- After filling out the information, tick the captcha box and click on the blue tab labelled ‘Search’. The system will then show any fines that have been levied on the visa.
- If you are a visitor:
- Click on ‘Citizens of Certain Countries’.
- Enter the following details:
- Your passport number
- Passport type – for example: diplomatic, UN or ordinary passport
- Date of Birth
- Current nationality
Step 3: Check the captcha box and click on ‘Search’. The system will then show any fines that have been levied on the visa.
If your visa was issued in Dubai, you can view if you have visa fines through the ‘Fines Inquiry Service’ on the GDRFA website.
Step 1: click on https://www.gdrfad.gov.ae/en/fines-inquiry-service
Step 2: From the first dropdown menu, select the file type:
• Resident (for residence visa holders)
• Permit (for visit or tourist visa holders)
Step 3: Provide the following details:
- Place of issue (select the Emirate that issued the visa)
- File number
- Date of birth
- Gender
Step 4: You will be asked to solve a simple math equation, as a captcha verification process.
Step 5: Click on the red ‘Submit’ button. The system will then show any fines that have been levied on the visa. If you do not have any fines, you will receive a green pop up message on the GDRFA website notifying you that there are no fines on your file number.
How Do You Pay Your Visa Fine Online?
If you have any fines on your visa and are unable to visit immigration to clear your dues, the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) has now granted virtual assistance feature to clear your dues or fines.

Here is a simple and step-by-step process to pay the fine through the ICA website.
- Step 1: Visit the ICA website www.ica.gov.ae
- Step 2: Introduce yourself by answering what would you like to be called during the conversation on the virtual assistant appear on the bottom right of the screen
- Step 3: Virtual assistant will provide all the list of services. Select Apply for Services
- Step 4: Select Pay Fine or type the service number
- Step 5: You will be asked to Enter your Unified Number . Enter it
- Step 6: Enter the date of birth following the format MM/DD/YYYY
- Step 7: If you have any violation related to your visa, your file will be shown up with the violation details.
- Step 8: You will be provided with the link to pay the fine. Click the payment link to submit the application.
- Step 9: The virtual assistant will then redirect you to the service submission screen. Review the information and click on next.
- Step 10: System will show you exactly how much click on Pay to complete the process and obtain the request service.
- Step 11: You will be provided with the transaction number and notification from ICA confirming if the payment is successful.
