Registering Your Newborn in the UAE:
Welcoming your newborn to the UAE as an expat might require a few extra steps, but don’t worry, registering your newborn to the UAE is a straightforward process. Here’s your simple guide:
Step 1: Complete the paperwork.
First, ensure you have your baby’s birth certificate and passport sorted. If you’re not in your home country, head to your embassy there to apply for the passport.
Step 2: Arrange the visa.
Next, apply for a visa at the UAE embassy in the country where your baby was born. Find the UAE embassy through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. Once in the UAE, apply for your baby’s residence visa within 120 days of birth. Missing this window will result in a fine of Dh100 per day.
Requirements for sponsoring your family:
Ensure you have a valid residence visa, either through work or self-sponsorship like a Green Visa or Golden Visa. Then, meet the minimum salary criteria and gather the necessary documents.
How long does it take?
Getting a UAE residence visa and Emirates ID typically takes about a week. And there you have it! Your little one will soon be a UAE resident just like you.
