How to register your car in Dubai?
It is mandatory to renew you car or vehicle registration every year in the UAE. If you have bought a new vehicle it is likely that the dealer would have handled the registration process as an added service. If you have bought a second-hand car or from the second year of the life of the vehicle, you will be required to renew the car registration by yourself.
Since August 2010 you could renew your car registration from any other emirate, irrespective of where you bought the vehicle from or where it was first registered.
1. Prior to the registration, you are required to obtain a car insurance or auto insurance for your vehicle. You could head to www.imudir.com for a FREE quote on auto insurance.
2. For cars with age more 3 years you are required to obtain a “vehicle fitness certificate.” This can be obtained from vehicle test centres at any of the authorized test centers (like Tasjeel/Eppco or Emarat Shamil).
3. With the car insurance, Vehicle fitness certificate and old registration card, you can now renew the registration online at the RTA’s website.
For online registration to be successful, make sure that you do not have any outstanding fines on your vehicle. The fines can be checked at Dubai Police Fines Enquiry service.
Well, that’s it. It is as easy as 1-2-3.
