I am sure you must have come across this question a lot of times.

I want to apply for a residency visa for my wife and son. I have Abu Dhabi visa and would like to rent a flat in Sharjah. Can i still use the tenancy contract from Sharjah for applying for my wife’s and son’s visa from Abu Dhabi. Will it be accepted by the concerned authorities in Abu Dhabi.

    Please advise.

    Thanks and Regards

  7. Hi Deepak,

My employment visa is from Abudhabi, but currently I am working in Dubai and living in Sharjah, hence my Tenancy Contract is of Sharjah.
I provided all the necessary documents to my company and my company applies for my family visas under my sponsorship 3 days back.
Now they told me that your employment visa from Abudhabi but your tenancy from Sharjah, because of that it’s taking time.
I want to know in my above case how many days it will take to get family visa

    1. Dear Husain,

It depends upon the embassy. Dubai embassy is normally quick in processing visas. However, since it is already 24th, you must have already received entry permits 🙂

      Good Luck,
      Sudheer

      1. Dear Sudhir,

No, not yet received entry permits for my family. My Company is trying to obtain it from Abudhabi Immigration – City Branch since 17th April but still not successful. They are telling me that I have to go to AbuDhbai Immigration – Al-Rahba Branch which is near to Dubai Border. Like my case will get entry permits from this branch only.
Lets see, they are going to try one last time today from city branch, if unsuccessful then I have to go to Al Rahba Branch.

        Regards
        Husain

  8. I am working in Abudhabi and I am newly moved to Dubai. I have to take family visa for my wife. I have ejari and all other documents except Dewa electricity bill as I activated Dewa 1 week before. I got the account number and all, but I dont have a electricity bill as such as I will get it only after 30 days. So in this case can I Apply for my wife visa??

    1. Hi Prateep,

Yes, you can go ahead and apply for your spouse visa without having electricity bill since you already have Ejari with you.

Visa department only ask for signed Tenancy Contract, Ejari for the proof.

      Good luck,
      Sudheer

      1. Hi there,

On the same topic – what id I have a signed tenancy contract, but not registered at Ejari yet, but I do have all the DEWA bills, etc., will they accept it in Abu Dhabi?

Note that I live in Dubai but my visa is Abu Dhabi.

        Thanks!

  9. dear deepak
i am living in Dubai but my employment visa is abu dhabi. can i apply my family visa on Dubai Ejari and Dewa bill. also i want to know that legal translation for Birth certificate and marriage certificate is required or just attestations enough. ??

    1. Dear Muhammad,

      1. It doesn’t matter in which emirate you are living. It is all about whether you have a valid tenancy contract and ejari. Since you are living in Dubai please process visas in Dubai embassy which will be quick in process.
      2. Attesting marriage and birth certificates are mainly necessary. Transactions are not required.

      Good Luck,
      Sudheer

  10. Dear Mr.Deepak,

    Greetings!

In my case im holdig residence visa from my previous company. Now its been cancelled. Now my husband is sponsoring me. My questtion do i need to show my passport originalfor typing purpose. Because my old company asking for visa before givng my passsport. I confused. Can i change my visa inside the country?

    Thanks and regards,
    Maricel

    1. Dear Maricel,

Since your previous visa already cancelled, your husband can sponsor you. I don’t see any issues here.
But, I don’t understand why your old company holding your passport still with them since your visa sponsored them has already cancelled. It is illegal as far as I know.

      Good Luck,
      Sudheer

  11. dear Mr deepak..
if wife and husband work in abudhabi can apply for residence visa…but salary amount me and her 4000AED….what can i do..

    1. I am not very clear about your question. Sorry.

      2. If only you working and you are planning to sponsor visa for your wife then you must show salary 3000+accommodation. Source: http://www.dubaifaqs.com/visa-residence-dubai.php

Am currently working in JAFZA Free Zone, I’ll be joining new company in Abu Dhabi. Please advice is it necessary to shift to Abu Dhabi to get the residence visa for my family? I’ll be sponsoring my wife, my son and maid visa once my Abu Dhabi visa is issued by my new company?

Will it be fine if we give my EIJARI(Dubai) contract for Abu Dhabi residence visa?

    1. Jatin,
      The procedure is normal.
Ejari is fine. Take the latest Dewa bill with you also.
Attested marriage certificate and attested birth certificate.

      1. hi deepak,

I have Ajman employment visa, Now I want to bring my family here, But I have taken flat in Sharjah and got the sharjah municipality attestation also in my tenency contract. Now I am going to apply Ajman visa for my family. So is it required ajman municipality attestaion on my tenancy or not required? and is it required my leagal translated diploma certificate for the same????

  15. I need to know whether legal translation of birth certificate of child should be attested by the UAE embassy, or only original birth certificate should be attested ?

    1. Deepak,
In both the cases If the original is from out side UAE or issued in UAE, that needs to be attested first and then you need to legal translate the birth certificate.

      1. Thanks for the response. Here are my issues for which I need clear answers:

        a. My marriage certificate is from India and is in English. I have got it attested from respective authorities. As per my understanding, I can get a legal translation of the same in Dubai and submit it to immigration. There is no need to get the translated copy attested by all the authorities like Ministry of External affairs in India, UAE Embassy, Foreign affairs in UAE, etc. Correct ?

        b. Birth certificate of my child was issued in India and is in Hindi. I have got the original one (in Hindi) attested by all the authorities. Now there is no legal translation from Hindi to Arabic available throughout UAE. Only option is certified translation on translators letter head. Lot of people say certified translations work whereas a few say I need to get the translation from Hindi to English, and English to Arabic and get the English translation attested from India and UAE embassy/foreign affairs all over again. Does anyone know the truth ?

        1. Deepak,
          a. Yes, get that translated copy attested. That is enough. No need to separately attested the translated copy.
          b. I am not too sure about this. I think certified translation will be enough.

    1. Sidarth,
You should visit immigration and in the typing centre get a change request.

  16. My husband profession is archives clerk and 4000 salary, is it possible for him to sponsor for my son’s visa?

  17. Hi,

I am planning to sponsor my wife. My designation in my visa is “Foreign food cook” but am actually working as “Chef De Partie”. Is it possible to sponsor my wife under the same designation as mentioned in my Visa or should i need to change my designation?

    1. Lawrence,
I don’t think there will be any problems if you have all the documents.

  18. Hi Deepak,

Is it possible to bring my parents as dependants here? what is the criteria?

    1. Aditya,
      Please read: http://emiratesdiary.com/uae-tips/documents-required-parent-visa-parents-law-visa-humanitarian-cases

  19. I am staying in company accommodation without tenancy contract, how can I sponsor my child?

Can I get sponsored my child by providing Accommodation contract provide by the company.

    1. Joseph,
You should get an official letter from company stating that you are staying in the company provided family accommodation.
Also you should attach the tenancy contract provided by the landlord with Ejari and utility bills.

  20. hai deepak,

i am holding abu dhabi visa, now i got offer in dubai. so i need to hold my family ( wife only) visa. can you tel me the procedure. how much salary required for family visa holding in abu dhabi

    1. Anash,
I don’t think that is possible anymore. But you could check with immigration.
Basically, you will need to place a deposit per family member (5000 dirhams) and cancel your visa.
Once you visa is stamped, you need to change the status of your family visa.

      1. Today i checked with Dubai immigration when i went to renew my daughters visa. I am cancelling my dubai visa and getting a new visa from Abu Dhabi. As per them the holding the visa by depositing aed:5000 has been scrapped. Now we need to cancell the dependents visa first before we cancel our visa. Then re apply once we get our visa stamped.

  21. Good day Sir Deepak,

    1. Chris,

My wife delivered our baby this June. I’m Abudhabi visa and my wife is Dubai visa. I’m engineer and my wife is architect mention to our visa page. We are currently staying at sharjah. Without tenancy. My question is whom of us can sponsor our baby? In case is it ok if we will take tenancy here at sharjah? Thanks for this informative blogs@

    1. Rye,
As a father, you will have to sponsor the residence visa for your child.
Yes, Sharjah tenancy contract is enough but it should be attested by relevant authorities.
Also better to take your Utility bill.

  28. Hi, I really appreciate the interaction. and below are my problem.
I have my visa stamped in my passport and emirates ID, now i want to bring my wife and a son here in Abu Dhabi. I ask our HR Department what are the required documents needed to apply for there visa, but our HR told me that I can’t because my desigation in my visa is domestic wiring technician. but my salary is above the minimum wage of the required salary. Is it true that I can’ bring them here in Abu Dhabi?. If possible what are the requirements? Thanks and regards.

    1. Lorenzo,
Since your HR has confirmed that you can not, you should listen to them.
Plus it is also better to talk to Immigration authorities.

  29. Hi Deepak,

I am a manager working for a dubai company with a Dubai Visa. What are the procedure if i will opt to work for a company in Abu Dhabi. FYI, I have a family living with me in Dubai.

Will it be complicated as If I am new in UAE where if have to start from zero?

    1. Taj,
You will have to cancel your family member visas, then yours. Then you will apply for your residence visa in Abu Dhabi and after that for your company.
I am not sure whether the facility to hold your family visa by depositing 5K is still available!

    1. Umar,
You will need a valid tenancy contract with Ejari.
Otherwise, you will not be able to sponsor your wife.

  34. I followed the documents that you said, It is applicable in Western Region Immigration because they are not accepting if you’re a resident in Dubai

    1. Maria,
Please understand that, IMMIGRATION RULES ARE DYNAMIC AND CHANGE ACCORDING TO SCENARIOS.
If they are not accepting, then you have to submit what they accept.

    1. Jen,
I don’t think for your category, you can sponsor your husband.
You will require minimum of 15K salary with good designation like Managerial and above.
For professionals like doctors, nurses, engineers it is possible to sponsor husbands with even lower salaries.

Is your case pending at court?

  50. Hi,

currently tenancy contract copy required for only obtaining visa stamping or entry permit or both

  51. Hello sir,

    Regards

    1. Jawad,
You can only take visa for your wife from where your visa is applied and processed through.
So, in your case it will be Abu Dhabi.

      1. Hi,

I need to apply Visa for my wife and daughter but i don not have electric/water bill..

I have taken house in building where they provide Tenancy Contract from Tawteeq but not the Electric bill.

can i apply visa without having electric bill?

      2. Dear Mr. Deepak,

My Visa is issued from Al Ain but i am deputed at Dubai now. I have a tenancy contract here at Dubai. Could i bring my wife on family visa using this Tenancy contract ?

I have sufficient salary and my profession is of Accountant. Documents which i have are: My salary certificate, attested marriage certificate, passport copy of my wife which contains my name as spouse and dubai tenancy contract. Could i process a family visa for my wife from Al Ain? or what else should i have to get a visa processed for my wife?

        Regards,
        Krish.

        1. Krish,
you will need to apply for visa in Al Ain immigration.
You will also need attested marriage certificate which should be translated later at a legal translator.

    2. Hi,

I need to apply Visa for my wife and daughter but i don not have electric/water bill..

I have taken house in building where they provide Tenancy Contract from Tawteeq but not the Electric bill.

can i apply visa without having electric bill?

      1. Avinash,
Your tenancy contract needs to be attested.
I think if you have attested contract, you can apply for family visa.
        Where do you live? Ajman?

        1. Hi Deepak,

          Thanks for your response.

I am staying in Abu dhabi Main city.

I have only tenancy contract. So you mean, i can sponsor visa for my family without having electricity/water bill ?

          Regards,

          1. Avinash,
you will need stamp from Baladiya along with tenancy contract.
Better to also take latest utility bill.

    1. Gandhi,
Salary certificate should be addressed to Department of Naturalisation and Foreigners’ Affairs in Arabic.

  52. Sir, what should be the position which can apply family Visa in Abu Dhabi. (Wife & Son)
    can follow clerk will do?

    Please response.

    1. Slasher,
Yes, I think Clerk can sponsor family provided you meet other criteria.

  53. do the husband(sponsor) need to complete tenancy contract of at least 1 month to apply for the dependent visa for his spouse?

  54. Dear Mr Deepak,
Actually I wanted to bring my wife here in abu dhabi, though my salary is more than 10000 Dhs, but my labour contract is made with 3900 Dhs, and moreover I have been staying in hotel accomodation provided by company, so I don’t have any tenancy contract.

So, what I have to do to bring my wife here, is it possible without tenancy contract.

    1. You may take a salary letter in Arabic mentioning the current salary along with all the necessary document.
You also should take a letter from employer along with the hotel booking details in a letter from hotel which may help.

  55. Dear Mr. Deepak

I am working as restaurant manager but my visa as cash desk clerk my salary 9000 AED I would like to aply visa for my family, any problem with my visa status ? Advice please

    1. Shahid,
I don’t think you will face any problem while applying family visa.
Make sure you have all other related documents.

  56. Minimum salary required is not 10K anywhere in UAE. There are no official announcement regarding that I guess.

  57. Hi Mr.Deepak,
I am a teacher in a private school. My company has given me a studio accommodation.I don’t have tenancy contract. My Husband is working in Dubai.Am I able to sponsor my newborn coming on November without a tenancy contract(with an NOC from the company)?what all documents needed for that?

    1. Lin,
First of all, the authorities would request your husband to sponsor the child. You may not be able to sponsor your child when your husband is working in UAE.
You can approach authorities with request though.
I think your company needs to mention in the salary certificate that you are being provided with accommodation + NOC.
All regular documents are required: Marriage certificate, birth certificate(both Arabic+attested), Ejari.

If we don’t have Utility bills then the applicant/sponsor need to meet In-charge Authority of Immigration AD and should get approval for the Visa processing. All its dependents on his decision to approve or not.. There is no sure if he accept. All its on your LUCK !!

Hi Anjith, If you processed you application what is your status. I hope you succeeded.

      Please share your experience.
